LOCAL CHARACTER:The City of Palmdale is located in the Northern Los Angeles County Area. It is sitated between the Tehachapi and San Gabriel Mountains, which sits at the western tip of the Mojave Desert.
DESCRIPTION OF STATION SITE:
This CIMIS weather station is located in the southern section of the multi use 20-acre Desert Sands Park behind a softball field in a well maintained turf grass area.
NORTH:
120 ft irrigated grass, however at 15 feet from station there is a light post for the softball field
EAST:
150 feet irrigated grass
SOUTH:
90 feet irrigated grass; +80' concrete tennis courts: +60' of native vegetation
WEST:
425 feet irrigated grass
