LOCAL CHARACTER: Located on the USDA Forest Service Nursery. It is in a rolling hill area that is primarily agricultural in nature -- Orchards, vineyards, forest products. Many rural residences are scattered in the area.
DESCRIPTION OF STATION SITE:
A relatively small grass plot surrounded by newly transplanted pines (typically) that are grown for repopulating burned forest areas. The small trees are grown for a season and then removed for transplanting�essentially a row crop environment.
